Getting To Rome Ciampino Airport By Bus

Some Ciampino Airport buses leave for the small Ciampino railway station from where passengers can take trains to Rome’s main train station, Roma Termini. Other airport bus services shuttle between the main train station in central Rome and the airport.

Bus operators Atral, Terravision Ltd, Schiaffini and the official Bus Shuttle take approximately 40 minutes to get from the airport to Roma Termini. COTRAL/Schiaffini airport buses leave every 15 minutes for the Anagnina stop of Metro Line A from Ciampino train station, providing underground connections throughout the city.

Fares by bus operator Atral for example are EUR 6.90 for a return ticket from Rome Ciampino Airport to Roma Termini train station or EUR 3.90 for a single journey. Travellers over 70 years travel for free. The journey from the airport to the local Ciampino train station takes just 5 minutes, offering onward travel to Roma Termini, the south of the Lazio region and Castelli Romani.

Rome Ciampino Airport buses, which are operated by Cotral S.p.A. travel to a variety of bus terminals in Rome and the ticket prices are determined by the number of kilometres travelled. Schiaffini buses from Ciampino Airport on the urban line FS-Aeroporto-Stazione Termini start their journey at Via S F D’Assisi and travel via Piazza della Pace, Viale di Marino, Via dei Laghi, Via Appia Nuova to the airport.

Passengers have a 7 minute interval before the bus leaves the airport once more to travel via Via Appia Nuova to the GRA ring road, then on motorway 24 onto the Via A Torelli, Via Tiburtina, Via della Legal Lombarda, P. le delle Province, Viale Ippocrate, Viale dell’Università, Viale Castro Pretorio, Via Marsala and Via Giolitti to Roma Termini. The bus service starts at 04.35 am and finishes at 11.10 pm, starting in Roma.

A journey with airport bus operator Terravision will cost EUR 4.00 for a single journey from the airport to the city. A trip to Rome Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) Airport will also be charged at EUR 4.00 per person for a single trip.

Passengers wishing to board Terravision buses for their return journey should use the bus stop outside Terracafe at Rome Termini Station, Marsala n. 29 F/G. From Ciampino town these buses take only 10 minutes to arrive at the airport. It is cheaper to book the bus tickets online, as a saving of EUR 2.00 can be made on a single journey.

At the Rome Termini a single ticket will cost EUR 6.00. Children under the age of four go free. The service operates around the clock, 24 hours a day, however, during the day buses leave the airport every 20 minutes, while at night the service is less frequent. When travelling on the return journey from Roma Termini, passengers must arrive at least 20 minutes prior to their bus departure time to obtain a boarding pass. Tickets cannot be purchased on the bus.

Passengers will find the bus stops at dedicated bus bays, which are located opposite the International Departures area at the passenger terminal. Terravision also offers other bus routes and transfers to other Italian airports.
